The Plant Diseases Act and the Pest Plant and Animal Provisions of the Land (Planning and Environment) Act

The Plant Diseases Act 1934, the Plant Diseases Regulations and the pest plant and animal provisions of the Land (Planning And Environment) Act 1991 are being reviewed as part of the ACT Government’s obligations as a signatory to the Competition Principles Agreement to implement National Competition Policy (NCP) reforms. In addition, the review incorporates other agreed review obligations, in particular, those stemming from the recommendations of the Red Tape Task Force, the review of all pre-1980 legislation (in relation to obsolete or redundant provisions) and the standardisation of inspectorial powers.
