Evaluate and modify your rabbit management plan

Once implemented, the plan needs to be evaluated, and if objectives were not achieved it is useful to know why not, so appropriate modifications to the strategy can be applied.

The adaptive management framework for managing rabbits below is a useful guide. It sets out the ten steps in the Assess, Plan, Manage and Improve chapters of the Glovebox Guide for managing rabbits. Click through for more about how to apply it to your program.

Useful questions to consider

Here are some important questions to ask when evaluating your plan:

  1. How well did the plan work?
  2. What features worked and why?
  3. What features didn’t work and why not?
  4. Was the timeframe appropriate?
  5. Were there cost overruns or savings?
  6. Could money be better spent next time?
  7. What changes could be made to make the plan work better?

You now have the information to modify your rabbit management plan if required, and once this has been done, your improved plan can be put into action and monitored again. The process can be repeated until you are satisfied your rabbit management plan is the best it can be.

How RabbitScan can help improve management plans

Using RabbitScan to record new (and historical) observations of rabbits in your local area will help build a detailed picture of rabbit populations. Your data can help you collaborate and plan, evaluate the success of your efforts, or showcase how big the issue is to leverage action or investment.
